   After winning the school's first-ever Boys' Regional Volleyball Championship, the Alter Knights made their way north to participate in the 2008 Boys' State Volleyball Tournament where they met GCL rival, Mc Nicholas in a semi-final match on Saturday, May 31. Behind a valiant team effort and outstanding individual performances by seniors Robbie Courtney and Anthony Hess, along with an impressive show from freshman Keaton Pieper, the Knights fell short of their bid for a state title, losing to Mc Nich, 20-25, 25-21, 21-25, 18-25. The regional championship and state appearance, however, propelled Alter to an 18-9 mark on the year - the most wins ever by an Alter boys' volleyball team. And, the impressive season garnered a wealth of recognition and individual honors for the Knights as well. Players, coaches and family members got together in June to commemorate the outstanding season and to honor all the individual participants of both the JV and varsity teams.
