2011 Alter Guys' Volleyball

  STATE CHAMPIONS!

It has been a "season of firsts" and it culminated on Sunday when the Alter guys' volleyball team garnered it's first-ever STATE CHAMPIONSHIP with a straight-set victory over defending state champ, Archbishop Hoban; 25-16, 25-22, 25-16. The history-making Knights jumped out to an early lead with a strong showing in the first set and then battled from behind to grab set number-two before capping an incredible season with a confident third set to seal the deal at Pickerington High School North.

The Knights' championship season was paced by Senior Captains Keaton Pieper, Ohio Division 2 Player of the Year; and Luke McCrate, West Region Honorable Mention. The seniors were supported by a cast of talented juniors: Chuck Eisenhauer, Scott Morrison, Nate Kinsella, Cameron Heyd, Mitch Lush, Charlie Schaefer, Nash Lindley, Luke Miller, Zack Moore, and Drew Gillis along with lone sophomore, Danny Cooper. Ohio D2 and West Region Coach of the Year, Craig Erford, commanded the helm for the Knights along with assistants Marcus Miller and David Gibble.
